This years Scottsdale Auction events proved to be volatile, not so much in
values but in weather! The Russo Steele auction was severely interrupted by
winds that collapsed tents. Much damaged occurred but
no one was badly injured
and the show went on. The staff of Russo Steele handled the crisis
extraordinarily well and showed again what makes them a first class
organization.
Auction results show a moderately strong Collector Car Market with some
good buys and overall values of high quality examples holding well.
Even though the HD coverage on Speed Channel of Barrett Jackson is superb,
being there in person allows you to get a much better estimation of the quality
of cars. Much like last year low end Corvettes brought low end money, good cars
brought good money, great cars brought big money and cars with two fellas
fighting over them went to the moon.
This year, the third annual Corvette Market
Seminar, hosted by Keith Martin was held in Barrett Jackson's "Garage". There
was standing room only and the panel added two new members. As always it was
well moderated and included a new power point presentation for the panelists
picks. Below is you tube clip covering the session but you should pick up
a copy of the upcoming Corvette Market magazine for full coverage of the event. http://www.corvettemarket.com
Of course you can always stop by County
Corvette and get the inside scoop on the market. In the meantime
email us for auction results!

5th Annual Ronald McDonald House Toy Drive and Fundraiser
The 2009 Annual Toy Drive is now behind us. We generated $11000.00 and
more toys than last year.
Thank you for your generosity. This makes a difference for these kids at CHOP
and the parents who are struggling to get through a very difficult period.
10/25/09 American Cancer
Society
Honoring Dr. Frederick Simeone
County Corvette had the privilege to attend the
presentation of the American Cancer Society Humanitarian Award to world renowned
Neurosurgeon Dr. Frederick Simeone. The event was held at the Simeone Foundation
Museum in Philadelphia which holds simply the finest collection of sports
cars in the world. Dr. Simeone has been collecting the rarest and purest race
cars known to exist. For years this collection, which defies words, was housed
in private facility. Recently, the Simeone Foundation Museum was created
within a 100,000 square foot facility near the Philadelphia Airport which is now
open to the public.
This collection is difficult to describe and I
can only say that in over 25 years in the car world I have seen nothing that
comes close. If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Simeone Foundation
Museum do it!
For more information visit the website: http://www.simeonefoundation.org/
Dr. Simeone accepting the
Humanitarian award. County Corvette had the honor of providing a Corvette for a
backdrop to the stage.
Dr. Simeone is also Corvette enthusiast and
will be unveiling a very special car on December 2nd which will be a " must see"
for the Corvette community. It was a humbling but gratifying experience to have
a County Corvette car among this magnificent collection and passionate
collector.
Philadelphia Eagle
great, Vince Papale was on hand and ran the silent auction with all proceeds
benefiting the American Cancer Society.
Vince did a great job getting the crowd revved up and help make this a
successful event for cancer research. Vince is a great guy, as well as Corvette
enthusiast pictured here with Jim Stuempfle who bleeds Eagles Green!

At County Corvette "You are the celebrity"!
With all the hype of race car drivers and "celebrities" attending Carlisle
we thought who is more important than the our customers? No one is! Our tent
was set up for comfort and lounging for our loyal customers who attended
Carlisle and it was a great success!

County Corvette Refinishing seminar for the Delaware Valley
Chapter NCRS.
Last weekend we invited the local
Delaware Valley NCRS Chapter, as well as members from several other
surrounding chapters, to come in for a paint seminar
and lunch here at our shop.
This seminar was an extensive
breakdown of the evolution of automotive paint and materials. The
seminar was presented by our body shop manager Ken Windle who has in
depth
knowledge of automotive refinishing. Between working for DuPont for
many years and being involved with concours restorations of a wide
array of classic cars, it was interesting for everyone to learn a
thing or two.
Ken covered the early history of
paints up until our modern day applications and even into the
future. Discussed in depth were hand rubbed Varnish, Dupont's DuCo
Nitrocellulose Lacquer, Alkyd Enamels, DuCo Lacquer, Metallics,
Nitrocellulose Lacquer, Acrylic Lacquer and Enamels. Another
interesting section of the presentation was the in-depth discussion
on substrates. The different combinations of fiberglass, FRP,
Carbon Fiber, different primers and polyesters used by GM throughout
the Corvette's development. The Spray Gun technology and
development over the years was another interesting section.
For an example of the different
finishes County Corvette offers our customers we had two cars on
display that have both been fully restored by us. The Yellow '69 is
a highly optioned, highly documented, Triple Crown Award
winner that is done in straightLacquer and no clear. It is also the car you see in
Carlisle's new 2009 advertisements. The Sebring Silver '63 is a
Concours Restoration we have recently completed. The flawless body
and paint work is what separates a Concours Restoration from an NCRS
Restoration.
The crew here at County Corvette
wanted to thank everyone who participated and came out for the
event. We also wanted to leave an open invitation for any groups
interested in coming in for a similar seminar. If you and a group
are interested in participating please feel free to shoot me a PM or
an email.

Corvettes@Carlisle This year was perhaps the best weather ever
seen at the Corvettes at Carlisle

Bloomington Gold
On the judging field County Corvette was well
represented with three Corvettes for judging all taking Gold awards. More
notable were the remarks by the judges-
This 1969 Yellow L-89 which recently underwent a chassis restoration by our
shops was hailed as having the best Chassis the judges had ever seen! This Glen Green 65 Convertible owned by NCRS judge Bruce
Crookham was hailed as the best car in the class by several of the judges.
Very high compliments coming from the best judges out there!
The special collection had a strong showing of County Corvette restored
L-88s, several of which have been done for over a decade and still look as
though they were recently completed. Bill Vyn's Fathom Green 69 has been hailed as the most
faithful and authentic restoration ever seen on an L-88. This special car
was done using only factory authentic finishes and is regarded by many as
standard setting restoration.

County Corvette hosts the Central New Jersey Chapter NCRS
By: Mark Rudnick
On May 6th, fifteen members of the Central New Jersey Chapter
accepted the invitation of County Corvette in West Chester,
Pennsylvania to tour their facility and join them for lunch. This is
the second time our chapter has been out to County Corvette as
a group. For those who were visiting for the first time, they were
uniformly and overwhelmingly impressed with the facility and the
capability of the shop. For those members for whom this was a
return visit, it was gratifying to see that County Corvette continues
to expand their offerings, while maintaining the high standards
that make them a leader in the Corvette restoration industry.
What really seems to be the hallmark of the 22 year County
Corvette success story is their readiness to hire talented craftsmen,
their willingness to invest in cutting edge technology and
their commitment to doing the job right. County Corvette is
clearly a well-run business , where quality work and pleased
customers are the rule rather than the exception.
One of the highlights of our visit was
to see the body-off restoration
to Bruce Crookham’s 1966 427/450 h.p. convertible.
With the body separated from the frame, we were able to closely
examine an absolutely rust-free chassis from a 42 year old Corvette.
What an incredible sight. The chassis, un-restored, appears
factory fresh. Truly amazing! Equally impressive is the fact
that when the body had all the paint removed, it revealed a body
with virtually no fiberglass damage. This, according to the body
repair manager at County Corvette, is an extremely rare occurrence.
No rust, no fiberglass repair needed; what more could a
customer want to hear from his restorer? All this ‘66 Corvette
requires is a quality lacquer paint job, which is exactly what it is
getting at County Corvette.
On behalf of the Central New Jersey Chapter, I would like to
thank Jim Jordan and Jim Stuempfle, for their hospitality and
ongoing support of the Central New Jersey Chapter, and wish
them continued success in serving the Corvette community.

Corvette Market Magazine hits the street!
Keith Martin's latest magazine had its premier issue
hot from the presses just in time for Corvette's @ Carlisle. This magazine
covers current market conditions better than any other publication on the
market. One of the many great features of the magazine is the industry
roundtable where 6 of the Corvette communities leading authorities size up
current market conditions. County Corvette was asked to lend an opinion and
we were honored to contribute.
This is a superb publication and we highly recommend every true Corvette
enthusiast pick up a copy. Subscribe today!
12/2/06 Our 2006 Ronald McDonald House Toy Drive was a bigger success than last
year. We thank all of the Corvette community and our local friends who
participated and made this worthwhile cause a huge success. A special thanks
to Denny Parisan who conceived of and undertook the entire effort. It is
rare that one individual can make something like this happen not just
once but TWO YEARS in a row.
